Everton are considering making an offer for Nottingham Forest loanee Renan Lodi in the summer, according to Calciomercato. The Reds paid £4.7 million to take the Brazilian on loan in the summer and have the option to sign him for £25 million.
At this stage, however, it’s not clear whether or not Forest will activate that option. Right now, Forest don’t actually know what division they will be playing in next season. As a result, his future is in the balance somewhat.

Lodi has quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice left-back. His performances over the last few months have been very good and if the Reds do stay up they’d be foolish not to sign him.
Much like Forest, Everton don’t yet know what division they’ll be in next season. The Toffees currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League and face Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.
Sean Dyche will go in search of some quality during the summer. He is now looking towards Lodi as someone who can provide an upgrade on Vitalii Mykolenko and Ruben Vinagre.
The 24-year-old would be a very useful signing for Forest and sure they’ll take up their option if Premier League football is secured. He’s claimed 16 caps for Brazil during his career, making over 200 appearances during his professional career.
Former Forest full-back Brian Laws praised him earlier in the season. He called him ‘magic’ after a stunning goal against Tottenham in the League Cup and he’s proved he can play in the Premier League.
Everton considering offer for Lodi and Forest can’t let that happen
If Forest remain a Premier League club for next season, they can’t let Everton steam ahead of them in the race for Lodi. The player has been largely impressive and having him next season would give the Reds some continuity on the left-hand side of the defence.
Dyche will have big ideas for the summer. First, he must ensure that the Toffees don’t slip through the Premier League trap door for the first time in their history. If he does achieve that, it could be an exciting time for Everton next season.

Lodi has brought into the ethos of Forest. He clearly seems to be enjoying his football and Cooper will naturally want to bring him back to the club if that’s a possibility next summer.
Forest may need to move quickly but they must ensure Lodi remains on Trentside next season. As a result, the club would be wise to speak with Atletico about activating the clause just as soon as Premier League football is secured.
