Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been blasted by Costa Rica manager Luis Fernando Suarez. The stopper has chosen not to play in the forthcoming games for his country against Martinique and Panama; much to his manager’s dismay.

Navas has served his country with distinction during a colourful career. He has made 110 appearances and featured for his country during the World Cup in Qatar at the back end of last year.

The 36-year-old custodian was a shock signing made by the Reds during the January transfer window. He had fallen down the pecking order in France and was keen to play regular first-team football.

Now, he’s been on the wrong end of a verbal bashing from his international manager. He’s implied that his move to the Premier League has gone to his head and he needs to stop being so arrogant.

He told AS: Keylor Navas should be more of a Ticko, take off that Superman of Europe cape.

“At PSG, Keylor didn’t look at it, he didn’t see it. When he arrives in England he is still great, but he must be more humble, close the big time in Costa Rica.

“I think it’s time for him to come to his sense. To come down from his Dragon Ball Z cloud. He has to wear the shirt against Panama, he has to be in the less important games.”

It would appear that his international manager is less than impressed. Perhaps the feeling is that Navas hasn’t gone to play for Costa Rica due to the fact that they’re playing lesser opponents.

Forest fans won’t be too fussed at all. They can ill afford an injury to Navas and it’d perhaps be better if the club let him stick his feet up for a fortnight.

The Reds are fighting tooth and nail for Premier League survival. They are in desperate need of a win from somewhere and face Wolves at home after the international break.

Navas has been brilliant since he checked in at the club. Following his debut against Leeds, Neco Williams called him ‘massive’ and he’s already a huge influence in the dressing room.
