The hierarchy in place at Tottenham are big fans of Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson. The Reds will have to brace themselves for bids for the 21-year-old in the summer, especially if they are relegated from the Premier League.

According to Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold, Fabio Paratici has scouted Johnson before. He was at the City Ground fairly frequently last season as the club monitored the form of Djed Spence who they did land in the summer.

Johnson is very much one of Forest’s most important players. The Reds forward has scored nine goals in all competitions during 2022/23, including seven in the Premier League.

At 21, the Forest academy graduate is growing with every passing month. Last season he scored 19 goals and claimed 10 assists, with the Reds winning promotion to the top flight.

Steve Cooper is a big fan of Johnson and he won’t want to see his star man leave. After a 4-1 win over Blackburn in the Carabao Cup, he called him ‘excellent’, with Johnson scoring twice.

The latest claims won’t come as a shock really. With Johnson now beginning to really shine in the Premier League, it’s only natural that other clubs will look at him.

Signing for a club like Tottenham would be an attractive proposition for any player. They are in the middle of yet another transition but qualifying for the Champions League is still a real possibility.

Johnson is Forest through and through. He has risen through the ranks and was born in Nottingham, growing up supporting the club.

There will come a time, however, when a bigger club comes calling. Forest fans won’t want to hear it, but that’s football and huge clubs will always be keen to take players from the rest.

If Forest can stay up, however, they will fancy keeping Johnson for a little while longer. The player signed a new four-year contract as recently as last summer and that does bode well.

Every player has a price. Forest will hope that if they do get relegated, the club holds out for a huge sum of money is a club comes calling for Johnson.
