Nottingham Forest tried to sign Giovani from Palmeiras during the January transfer window, according to ESPN Brazil. The Reds raided the Brazilian outfit for Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo, with Forest eyeing a hat-trick of players from the champions.
Forest’s transfer strategy during the mid-season window was pretty clear. It was evident that players from South America were being targeted; with the domestic market typically including British tax and inflation rates given the period in the season.

Giovani isn’t only catching the eye of Forest at this time. The report from Brazil claimed that Everton and Newcastle are also keeping tabs on the young Brazilian star.
Signing him won’t come easily in the future either. He has a contract with Palmeiras until 2026 and at 19-years-old they will want him to spend a few more years with them.
Forest actually wanted to take Giovani on an initial six-month loan deal in January. The deal would have included an option to buy but it didn’t excite Palmeiras or the player’s representatives.
The talented teenager typically operates in the final third. He’s a versatile performer and so far this season he’s scored once and claimed two assists from 10 outings.

Palmeiras are flying once again this season. The champions are yet to lose from 12 league games and look well on course for another tilt at the title.
A video made by Cabazaya on Youtube showcases his undoubted quality. He’s called ‘unreal’ during that montage and the player does look like a future star.

The Reds were also locked in talks with Angelo Gabriel during January. He’s another youngster trying to make waves in Brazil and Forest seem to fancy targeting South America.
Giovani will likely fancy a crack at European football at some point. He does have bags of time on his side, however, and it will be interesting to see what the summer has in store for him.
