Leicester City have named Rafa Benitez as their number one managerial target seven months after Nottingham Forest sounded him out.
Super Deporte claim that the Foxes want to appoint the Spaniard on a temporary deal until the end of the campaign.
Forest were linked with Benitez in October. After a 4-0 defeat to Leicester, the Reds were linked with a move for the man who previously managed Newcastle.

Benitez’s last job in the Premier League was a complete disaster. He was in charge of Everton for six months, leaving with just seven wins from 22 games.
He’s not been back in the managerial game since but Leicester are now keen to appoint him.
The Foxes sacked Brendan Rodgers at the weekend after they slipped into the bottom three and are now looking for a replacement.
With the 2022/23 campaign reaching the closing stages, it’s claimed that they want to appoint a short-term fix until the end of the season.
Benitez would be a risk for Leicester. They’re already in the bottom three of the Premier League and the Spanish boss might need some time.
Fresh ideas and a new way of playing could help though and it’d be interesting to see how this one would pan out.

It wasn’t thought that Benitez was particularly keen on coming to Forest. Lee Charnley is in place behind the scenes at the City Ground and perhaps that’s where the links came from.
Forest fans certainly weren’t happy when these links emerged. It’s pretty clear that Benitez’s best years are behind him and of course, the Reds fans worship Steve Cooper.

Leicester are now hoping for talks with the manager. He has enjoyed a colourful career, winning some seriously big titles.
Their Premier League status could soon be in his hands and it will be interesting to see how that could potentially impact Forest.
