Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 to Leeds last night but in Felipe, they had a player who was simply sensational. The Reds went down after Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra scored to ensure Orel Mangala’s strike proved scant consolation.

Forest are in desperate need of a result following eight games without a victory. In truth, they never really looked like getting anything out of this game from the moment that Harrison equalised for Leeds just eight minutes after Mangala’s opener.

The form away from the City Ground is proving a big problem for Steve Cooper. Forest have claimed just six points on their travels this season with the Reds finding the net just five times away from home.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has thrown his weight behind Cooper today. Hopefully, that can lift the spirits among the Reds’ fan base and the team can start performing better in the coming weeks.

Cooper’s team can’t feel sorry for themselves. They go to Aston Villa next before facing Manchester United at home and then playing Liverpool at Anfield.

If Forest can steer themselves clear of relegation, Felipe will be a large part of it. The 33-year-old defender was simply sensational last night and he’s looked like a shrewd addition since joining from Atletico Madrid.

Felipe was sensational for Forest against Leeds

Some statistics from Who Scored show just how brilliant Felipe was last night. The player won three aerial duels, made five tackles and also completed a staggering nine clearances during his 90 minutes on the pitch.

Felipe showcased that he’s also comfortable playing out from the back last night too. He was the fourth more proficient player in that sense, completing 72% of his 50 passes.

The Reds are extremely lucky to have Felipe. He signed for the club from Atletico Madrid in January on an 18-month contract and he’s really showcased just how much quality he has at Forest.

Felipe gives his all in every single match. Plenty of other Forest players would now be wise to take note of the Brazilian and raise their performance levels accordingly.
