Manchester United have confirmed that Marcus Rashford won’t play against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. The Red Devils come to the City Ground looking to beat the Reds for the fourth time this season but they won’t have their top goalscorer.

It’s not all doom and gloom after all. Rashford has been one of the most feared marksmen in world football during 2022/23 and it is a bonus that he won’t be making the trip to the City Ground this weekend.

Rashford has already got two goals to his name against Forest this season. He opened the scoring in the league game at Old Trafford and in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg back in February.

It’s never nice to see someone injured and thankfully today’s statement confirms Rashford won’t be out for long. He will be back for United’s run-in at the end of the season but from a Forest perspective, it will be nice that he’s not going to terrorise the Reds this weekend.

Rashford has 28 goals to his name in all competitions this season. After he picked up an injury in Saturday’s win over Everton, United have released a statement on the fitness of Rashford and it makes for intriguing reading for Forest.

The United official website: “An assessment of the injury suggested that Marcus will be unavailable for a few games, but is expected to be back for the season run-in.

United have confirmed that Rashford won’t play at Forest

Again, it’s a relief from an England point of view that Rashford’s injury doesn’t appear serious. He will miss tomorrow’s game with Sevilla and definitely the club’s game at Forest but he will be back for the business end of the campaign.

Right now, Forest need all they help they can get. United have blown the Reds away three times this season and face a daunting clash against Erik ten Hag’s men again this weekend.

It really is a desperate situation right now for Forest. They could be adrift of safety by the time they play this weekend and fans will monitor Saturday’s results closely.

Forest have to start getting their own house in order, however. As a result, they need to have a real go at United this weekend and see if they can cause one of the biggest Premier League shocks this season.
