A report has explained exactly how much Nottingham Forest paid Rennes to take Loic Bade on loan. The Reds had the central defender in their ranks for six months but he failed to make a single senior appearance.

The centre-back was signed to provide an injection of pace to the defensive unit. Forest, however, never got to see his qualities, with Steve Cooper constantly preferring other options.

Bade was recalled by Rennes during the January transfer window. He was subsequently sent to Sevilla in La Liga where he’s become quite a force in their team.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form over in Spain. Last weekend, he scored as Sevilla defeated Valencia 2-0 in a huge game in the Spanish top flight and he’s now over his injury problems.

A report by Estadio Deportivo has now explained exactly how much Forest paid to sign him on loan. It doesn’t make great reading and the Reds might have been better off keeping their cash.

It’s claimed that the Reds had agreed on a fee of £10 million to sign him permanently next summer. Before then, however, the Reds paid £800,000 to sign him on loan and also parted with £300,000 to terminate his loan.

What a very strange signing for the Reds to make this proved. Clearly, Cooper wasn’t the man who decided to take him on loan as he didn’t make a single competitive appearance for the Reds.

Forest needed a central defender but bizarrely Bade was never given the nod. Scott McKenna, Joe Worrall, Steve Cook and Willy Boly were all called upon more often than the French defender.

Bade is now thriving at Sevilla. The youngster is playing well and now has the faith of a manager who trusts him to go out there and thrive every time he takes to the pitch.
