Nottingham Forest will be pushing to sign Flamengo star Matheus Franca should they stay in the Premier League. The attacking midfielder will be available for around £22 million and is a wanted man.

According to Bola VIP, the Reds are keen to add one of Jorge Sampaoli’s star men during the summer. Forest were linked with appointing the Argentinean should they decide to get rid of Steve Cooper.

Franca is considered a wonderkid and he’s already got lots of interest in his services. Premier League clubs Newcastle and Crystal Palace are keen; with Bayer Leverkusen also eyeing a move.

The Reds have built quite a contingent of South American players. They added Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa from Palmeiras in January, with Felipe also checking in from Atletico Madrid.

Renan Lodi is at the club too. Forest will likely try and sign him on a permanent deal should they remain in the Premier League, with the 24-year-old playing exceptionally well this season.

Franca is a product of the youth academy at Flamengo. He’s emerged from the under-20 ranks to play first-team football and has made 18 senior appearances in total.

Forest must target some more attacking quality if they’re to remain in the Premier League. They can ill-afford another season like this one next time around and changes will be necessary.

This would be a useful signing. Jesse Lingard will almost certainly leave during the summer when his contract expires and a backup to Morgan Gibbs-White will be sought.

Franca is someone who could come in and take English football by storm. He would need to adapt to the cultures of the Premier League but he’s a player with bags of potential.

Having plenty of Brazilians at the club to help him settle can only be a positive. As a result, if the Reds remain in the Premier League, signing Franca would make a lot of sense.
