Dean Henderson has taken to Instagram to let Nottingham Forest fans know that he won’t play for them again this season.

The 26-year-old stopper has been on loan from Manchester United but he’s not played since injuring his thigh in January.

Henderson was initially expected to miss three weeks. A setback, however, means he will now have missed four months after requiring surgery.

The player was one of Forest’s first additions following promotion. Brice Samba stated his intention to return to France almost immediately and the Reds needed a stopper.

Henderson kept six clean sheets during 20 appearances for Forest. He also saved penalties from Declan Rice, Harry Kane, Ruben Neves and Joe Hodge during his time between the posts.

Now, the Reds will have to make do without him. Keylor Navas was signed from PSG on loan in January and he will deputise for the remainder of the season.

Losing Henderson is a blow though. Forest head coach Steve Cooper would have liked both of his goalkeepers fit but now that won’t be the case.

Forest star Henderson has taken to Instagram to confirm surgery

The United man really seemed to enjoy performing for Forest. He always gave his all and ultimately the Reds have been lucky to have him.

Following his decision to have surgery, Ryan Yates and Lyle Taylor have reacted on Instagram to the goalkeeper.

Taylor posted: “Rest up broski.”

Yates followed that up by simply putting a love heart emoji on his post, with Henderson confirming that he’s disappointed to miss the season.

Now, Forest fans will be hoping they’ve not seen the last of the player.

If they remain in the Premier League, surely the club will try and land him on a permanent basis during the summer transfer window.
