BBC pundit Stephen Kelly has raved about Nottingham Forest star Danilo during last night’s 4-3 win over Southampton.

The Reds climbed out of the relegation zone on a hectic day of top-flight action at the bottom of the table.

Forest never trailed against the Saints. They didn’t, however, make the night comfortable with Southampton giving everything.

Steve Cooper will know this win could prove important. The Reds are now three points clear of safety with nine left to play for.

In Danilo, Forest have a player who is destined for stardom. He’s really kicked on recently and is now showing what he’s all about.

The 22-year-old signed for Forest from Palmeiras in January. He cost £16 million and was handed a six-year deal at the City Ground.

Danilo has now scored in games against Brighton, Brentford and Southampton to demonstrate that he’s capable of scoring goals for the team.

Kelly used to play in the Premier League and he was desperately impressed with Danilo.

He said live on air: “Forest got forward so quick.

“It’s a sensational goal by Danilo and is such a great counter-attack.

“The pass from Danilo to Brennan Johnson is wonderful.”

Danilo praised during Forest win

The Reds have a player who is going straight to the top in the Brazilian star man.

He was an unknown quantity but now, he’s showcasing exactly why Arsenal and Newcastle tried to sign him in the summer.

Danilo has been forced to wait patiently for his chance to shine but boy has he now taken it.

The Reds need to probably win one more game in order to preserve their Premier League status this season.

With Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace left to play, Forest still have a tough challenge on their hands.

But, Danilo is now in the mood and that makes the team a dangerous proposition for those three teams.
