‘Player of the season’: Michael Dawson hails ‘incredible’ Nottingham Forest star after Saturday

Michael Dawson has raved about Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White live on air after the Reds beat Arsenal 1-0.

The Sky Sports pundit was quizzed on the club’s record signing after he helped Forest secure Premier League safety.

Gibbs-White teed up Taiwo Awoniyi to score the only goal of the game after 19 minutes and Forest stood firm.

The England under-21 star was once again incredible for the Reds as they claimed another win on home soil.

Forest fans have enjoyed watching Gibbs-White in action this season and it’s fair to say he’s been unbelievable at times.

Dawson said live on Sky Sports: “For me, player of the season for Nottingham Forest. They spent an awful lot of money to get him here and Steve Cooper has worked with him before and he’s been incredible.

“His work rate, his desire, he’s played in different positions and he pops up into pockets of space. Obviously, he got the assist today for the goal but he’s been like that all season.

“He’s rolled up his sleeves and it looks like he loves the football club. For me, he’s been absolutely magnificent.

It’s clear that the man who came through the ranks at Forest is a huge fan of Gibbs-White and what he’s achieved this season.

The player was outstanding on Saturday and it’s surprising that he’s not still running around the City Ground turf.

Gibbs-White is simply unplayable at times and surely an England call-up is on the cards at some stage.

Forest have to go in search of more players of this ilk. Quality over quantity will need to be the order of the day for this summer.

If the Reds can add more players akin to Gibbs-White then they could really kick on during 2023/24.
