Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has delivered a reaction after the curtain came down on the 2022/23 campaign. The Reds have finished the season with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
The centre-back has played a watching brief for the second half of the current season. He was taken out of the 25-man Premier League squad in January and he hasn’t played since before Christmas.

Cook had made several appearances in the first half of the season. However, the club wanted to sign Felipe in the January transfer window and the promotion hero proved to be the fall guy.
At 32-years-old it’s not clear what the future holds for Cook at the City Ground. He does have a year to run on his existing deal but it’s hard to imagine him getting much game time next season.
If this is to be the end of his journey, Cook deserves immense praise. He signed in January 2022 and helped the club reach the Championship play-offs and win promotion to the Premier League.

Forest man Cook has delivered a reaction after the 2022/23 campaign finishes
It does sound a little bit like a goodbye from Cook with his Twitter post this evening. He’s issued a heartfelt message to the club’s supporters and he’s clearly very proud to play for the football club.
Cook would be wished well if he does depart this summer. He is still good enough to be playing football somewhere and any Championship club would surely welcome his arrival for next season.
The supporters at the City Ground will forever remember Cook’s celebrations after the play-off win at Wembley. If this is the end for the defender at Forest he will be looked back upon as a cult hero on Trentside.
