In February it was claimed that the Nottingham Forest hierarchy were big fans of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou. Now, the manager is set to be handed the vacancy at Premier League outfit Tottenham.

At the time, nothing was ever close between Postecoglou and Forest. It was claimed by FOX Sports that Evangelos Marinakis was a huge fan of the Celtic incumbent, although he was happy with Steve Cooper.

The Forest board have been justified in their decision to stick with their current head coach. Along with West Ham, the Reds were the only team in the bottom half of the Premier League not to sack their manager during 2022/23.

Now, Postecoglou could be set for a huge new challenge. According to the Scottish Sun, the 57-year-old will accept the position, with a deal set to be finalised after Celtic play Inverness in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday.

Spurs have been without a permanent manager since March when Antonio Conte left by mutual consent. Ryan Mason has been in temporary charge since then, with the club missing out on European football next season.

The next appointment looks like being a huge one for Tottenham. They will have a desire to be playing in the Champions League and now, Daniel Levy believes Postecoglou is capable of achieving that.

Forest hierarchy are huge Postecoglou fans but Cooper is the man for the job

It’s taken Forest a long time to find a manager that they can truly be proud of. Many tried and failed to take the Reds back to the Promised Land but Cooper did it in pretty much no time at all.

Now, the Reds have to back him. The first season back in the Premier League wasn’t all sweetness and light but ultimately, it was a case of mission accomplished from a Forest perspective.

The club will go again in the summer. Marinakis will back his manager once again, with a number of new faces likely to arrive to bolster the Forest squad.

Postecoglou hasn’t managed in the Premier League before and that does represent a bit of a risk. His efforts at Celtic have been exceptional though and Tottenham fans will hope he can get them firing.
