Tottenham are set to appoint Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou just months after it was claimed that Nottingham Forest liked him. Evangelos Marinakis is thought to be a big fan but he’s set to back Steve Cooper again.

The Reds won’t be changing their manager anytime soon. Cooper led Forest to Premier League survival with a game to spare and his stock couldn’t be higher among the club’s supporters.

It hasn’t all been sweetness and light for Cooper this season though. The Reds have had some poor runs of form in the Premier League and Marinakis has considered making a chance at various points.

Ultimately, the Greek owner has showcased that he’s capable of learning from his past mistakes, however. As a result, he’s decided to stick with Cooper and he’s been rewarded for that.

Postecoglou is an intriguing appointment for Tottenham. Some of the club’s supporters aren’t entirely convinced given that he’s never really worked in a top European division as a manager.

The manager’s record at Celtic is very impressive though. He has a win ratio of 73% and has tasted defeat just 18 times during his 113 matches in charge of the Hoops.

Tottenham set to appoint Forest-linked Postecoglou

The Reds never came close to getting Postecoglou. It was merely reported by FOX Sports that the Forest hierarchy liked the Celtic boss and were keeping tabs on him.

Marinakis has always been keen to give Cooper the full season and a chance to really build something at Forest. Now they’ve survived, the Welshman will almost certainly get the chance to continue in the hot seat.

Postecoglou to Spurs is an interesting one. They missed out on European football this season and his immediate aim will be to play attacking football and get Tottenham to perform better.

Cooper has a big season ahead at Forest. He will hope to push up the Premier League and improving away from home has to be the order of the day.
