A report has suggested that Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has claimed that Ryan Yates is always in his office. The Reds’ vice-captain has enjoyed a sound maiden campaign in the top flight and there is more to come.

Nobody works harder than Yates. He’s had to work especially rigorous on his game since promotion from the Championship but during his time out injured, it’s fair to say Forest missed him.

The Reds secured their Championship status with a game to spare. They defeated Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground in the penultimate game of the season and Yates was once again impressive.

Intriguingly, Yates could still improve. He’s only 25-years-old and he’s one of the first names on Cooper’s team sheet when he’s fit and available to him.

It would appear that the player leaves no stone unturned in a quest to polish his game. A report from The Athletic has claimed that Cooper often says that Yates is always in his office seeking advice.

The head coach is one of the best coaches in the business. Although he’s only actually worked in men’s management for four seasons, he’s a coach with a burgeoning reputation and he could go to the top.

So too could Yates. He’s now established himself as a Premier League performer and in doing so, he’s proving the people wrong who questioned his inclusion in the team around a year ago.

Jamie Carragher is a huge Yates fan. He’s raved about him at various points of the campaign, suggesting he was ‘fantastic’ during a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

This wouldn’t be a massive surprise, to be honest. Yates is someone who cares deeply about being the best he can be in every single game and he also has a big affection for the football club.

Cooper has been good for Yates. In the time that he’s worked with the 43-year-old head coach, he’s developed from a mid-table Championship player to a player capable of playing in the Premier League.

Yates has already made 163 appearances for the Reds. There will be more to come from him too and it can’t be a bad thing that he’s constantly asking Cooper for guidance on his performances.
