Nottingham Forest are one of several Premier League clubs keen to sign Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi during the summer transfer window. The Reds will target several new players this summer and a raid on the Glaswegian giants could happen.

According to Football Insider, Forest are firmly in the mix to sign the player during the window. It’s also claimed that Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and clubs from Germany and Italy are keen to land him.

One big stumbling block could be the player’s wishes. He would like to join Ange Postecoglou who has just taken over the managerial reigns at Tottenham.

The North Londoners haven’t made any contact just yet though. Tottenham could have bigger fish to fry in the transfer market and perhaps the player won’t be granted his wish.

The 28-year-old has been in ridiculous form in Scotland. During 2022/23, he’s scored 34 goals in 50 appearances and also registered five assists as Celtic claimed the treble.

It’s thought that Celtic would demand around £20 million for Kyogo. He found the net 20 times during the 2021/22 campaign and he’s been nothing short of a revelation.

Forest will go in search of another centre-forward this summer. Taiwo Awoniyi scored 11 goals in his maiden season in the Premier League but there was little in reserve.

Sam Surridge only scored once, with Emmanuel Dennis scoring twice. Both of those players could leave this summer and that would open the door for a new signing.

Forest keen to sign Kyogo from Celtic but the deal won’t be easy

Now, Forest have showcased that they are capable of staying in the Premier League, they are an attractive proposition for signings. However, Tottenham could be the club that holds the aces here.

Kyogo has a desire to join Postecoglou in North London. As a result, he could be prepared to let a decision on his future drag out towards the end of the transfer window.

The player has earned vast praise from the new Spurs boss in the past. Back in May, he called Kyogo ‘outstanding’ after some impressive form in front of goal.

Rumour rating: 7/10 – As much as we want to like this one, we’ve marked it down as we just don’t think it will happen. Kyogo will likely go to a bigger club and Tottenham have to be considered favourites.

Forest will need some more firepower though. If they’re to push up the division next season they need competition for places and Kyogo would be a dream signing for the Reds.
