Nottingham Forest have just rejected a bid from Brentford for star Brennan Johnson, reports have confirmed. This isn’t the first time the Bees have tried to land the 22-year-old and they fancy him once again.

John Percy from The Telegraph has made this claim today. He’s suggested that interest will remain rife, with Forest not keen to entertain selling him.

This time things are different though. Forest are in the Premier League now and with Johnson in the team, they’ve ensured a second successive campaign in the top division.

The academy graduate scored 10 goals in all competitions during 2022/23. He was instrumental in helping Forest stay in the Premier League, with his goals earning the team nine points.

Brentford are undeterred though. They have tested the water with a move for the talented player with vast interest expected in the versatile forward during the summer transfer window.

Forest are under no pressure to sell, however. They now feel as though they can establish themselves as a Premier League club and they will resist any bids for Johnson unless they are offered silly money.

Steve Cooper definitely won’t want Johnson to leave. He called his star man ‘fantastic’ back in February and he’s often been found waxing lyrical about the man who scored 19 times in Forest’s promotion-winning campaign.

Thomas Frank can forget this one. Quite frankly, £30 million is an insult and Forest would be wise to return with a counter-offer of a similarly ridiculous bid for one of their star players.

Johnson is a boyhood Forest fan and loves playing for the football club. His dad can often be found cheering his son on at games and mingling with supporters who regularly sing his name.

At stupid money, of course, Forest would have to entertain offers. Brentford’s offer of £30 million wouldn’t be enough to obtain one of Johnson’s shin pads based on his form over the last two years.

It’s laughable that the Bees even dared to bid such a derisory amount and thankfully Forest have laughed their offer all the way to the shredder!
