Nottingham Forest have let Jesse Lingard leave the City Ground this summer. Now, he could be nearing a new club, with three clubs in Saudi Arabia submitting offers to the player.

According to Sky Sports, the player is now the subject of interest from the Middle East. However, it’s claimed that the forward is weighing up all of his options.

The David Beckham-owned franchise, Inter Miami, were allowing Lingard to maintain his fitness in the United States, according to The Mirror.

Forest never saw the best of the Lingard. He struggled with a series of injuries after the World Cup which was a shame as he showed some decent form just prior to the tournament.

It came as no surprise that Lingard was allowed to leave at the end of his contract. He failed to register a single goal or assist in the Premier League; scoring a couple of goals in the Carabao Cup.

Lingard is only 30-years-old and he will now be seeking a new challenge after his Forest nightmare. Ultimately, he will still see he has something to offer and may fancy a fresh challenge, with the MLS and Saudi Arabia both viable options.

Forest will move on from Lingard. The man who played for Manchester United for over 10 years was one of the highest-paid players in the forest dressing room and that money can now be used elsewhere.

This would be something that does make a lot of sense. Much like he was with Forest, Lingard will likely be popular from a commercial sense for the clubs now throwing big money around in the Middle East.

Forest have done the right thing though with Lingard. He hardly has Premier League clubs knocking his door down to give him a deal and moving to the glitz and glamour of USA or Saudi Arabia looks ideal.

Lingard had a brilliant attitude during his time at the City Ground. He was always willing his teammates on, even when he wasn’t getting game time himself and for that he should be wished well in his next adventure.

Moving to Saudi Arabia isn’t to be sniffed at. Lots of top players have headed there this summer from around the world. Lingard could soon be joining the likes of Ruben Neves, N’Golo Kante and Cristiano Ronaldo next season.
