Nottingham Forest would consider re-signing Keylor Navas ahead of the 2023/24 campaign but only for the right price. The Costa Rican goalkeeper has been placed on the transfer list by PSG and is seeking a new club this summer.

According to L’Equipe, Forest might still be keen on the 36-year-old. He spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan at the City Ground, helping the Reds avoid relegation.

Navas was a stellar signing made by Forest in January. The club were forced to do something quickly when Dean Henderson suffered a serious thigh injury against Leicester with the transfer window open.

PSG had shunted Navas down the pecking order. He had fallen way behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and his chances to play regular football had sailed off into the sunset in Paris.

Still, it was a remarkable coup for Forest as they tempted him to join their Premier League survival mission. Navas has won three Champions League titles during his career and that experience proved crucial.

Navas made 17 appearances and kept two clean sheets for Forest. Incidentally, his shutouts came in his first appearance for the club and his last; against Leeds and Arsenal respectively.

Forest have several irons in the fire to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer. Last night., Jose Sa was linked with a move, with Wolves possibly looking to offload their number one.

Forest would consider Navas if the price was right

This would be an interesting signing, to say the least. Navas does have just a year remaining on his existing deal and it’s hard to imagine PSG demanding a fortune for his services.

The player’s wages would be the stumbling block. He earns £200,000-a-week in Paris and he’s likely to want to avoid taking too much of a hit on that with his next club.

Navas would be a popular signing in the Forest dressing room. Following his debut performance, Neco Williams called him ‘massive’ for the string of fine saves he made to thwart the opposition.

Still, this doesn’t look like an easy deal to do. Forest might have already moved on from Navas behind the scenes, with Dean Henderson and Sa seemingly now the top targets.
