Nottingham Forest are keen to complete the signing of Botafogo striker Matheus Nascimento. The Reds want to get a deal for the player completed quickly amid interest from other clubs.
According to the Brazilian outlet UOL, the Reds have emerged as serious contenders to sign the talisman this summer. He’s currently getting minutes in the Brazilian top flight and his team sits top of the division.

Nascimento has scored three times during 2022/23 and at 19-years-old he is deemed as a bit of a wonderkid in South America. Just 12 months ago, he was on the radar of Real Madrid and clearly, he’s rated highly within the game.
Forest could get themselves a bit of a bargain with this deal too. The player is thought to be available for just £8 million and given his burgeoning reputation within the game, that could prove a steal.
Nascimento has come through the Botafogo youth academy. Right now, he’s trying his best to get more minutes under his belt, with Bruno Lage, previously linked with Forest now his manager.

Forest keen to sign Nascimento and he could dazzle
This could be a decent signing by Forest and it would give them a different option in their attack. The Reds have Taiwo Awoniyi who was the top goalscorer last term but after that, there is very little in the way of competition.
Nascimento is only 19 and it’s perhaps intriguing that he was linked with Real Madrid. They chose not to add him to the Bernabeu ranks but given they were interested, he still looks like a player with a bright future.

At £8 million, Nascimento makes a lot of sense from a Forest perspective. He would be a relatively low-risk addition and would provide an excellent backup to Awoniyi.
Rumour rating: 7/10 – There is a lot to like about this. Forest are clearly scouting the Brazilian market rigorously and Nascimento is the latest to be linked.
Given that he’s previously been linked to big clubs, there is a lot to like. Okay, he’s not got lots of senior experience under his belt but at £8 million, he’s a player who could make the Reds profit in the future.
