Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Nottingham Forest were very keen to sign Yunus Musah this summer. However, the midfielder is now set to sign for someone else and is locked in advanced talks.

The transfer guru has been talking to Caught Offside. He has mentioned Musah as being on the radar at Forest and Premier League rivals Fulham but the USA international is now set for AC Milan.

It’s thought that a deal is close for the 20-year-old Valencia player to head elsewhere. The midfielder was actually linked with a move to Forest last summer but the club opted to sign other targets instead.

Musah shone at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year. He played in all four fixtures that the USA played, with the nation losing 3-1 to Holland in the last 16 of the competition.

The youngster has been with Valencia since 2019 when he signed from Arsenal. He made 18 appearances for the under-18s in North London but was poached by Valencia and fast-tracked to their senior ranks.

Musah has made 105 appearances for Valencia. Now, he clearly feels that the time is right for him to test himself with a bigger club and a move to Serie A is the move that he feels is right for him.

Romano said to Caught Offside: AC Milan are in advanced talks over signing Yunus Musah from Valencia. He’s also had interest from the Premier League from Fulham and Nottingham Forest.

“Still, Milan have Champions League football and are leading the race. He wants to join them, and other clubs will only have an opportunity if Milan decide to leave the race.”

Musah would have been a quality addition for Forest this summer. They’re busy trying to bolster their midfield ranks and a defence-minded addition is a necessity before the season starts.

In March 2021, USA head coach Gregg Berhalter called him ‘solid’ and said that ‘he made everything look easy’, following a brilliant performance on the international stage.

Forest will hope that something can be done on the transfer front very soon. It does seem, however, as though Musah won’t be a player who is heading to the City Ground this summer.
