With tonight being a cup outing it is expected that Steve Cooper will make a number of changes from the side that lost 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Felipe is back in training after missing the first three league games, but tonight may come too soon for the 34-year-old Brazilian.

Fellow centre-back Joe Worrall picked up a straight red card in the defeat against Manchester United, meaning he will miss tonight’s game against Burnley.

However, there could be competitive debuts for new signings Gonzalo Montiel and Andrey Santos after the pair joined the club last week.

Predicted lineup to face Burnley

We think that for the visit of Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, Cooper will stick with his current preferred formation of a 5-2-2-1.

Defence

Ethan Horvath looks set to make his first Forest appearance in over 18 months, with No. 1 Matt Turner having a well-deserved rest.

New signing and World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel could make his first start at right wing-back, with Neco Williams swapping the right for the left to play on the opposite side of defence.

Cooper’s side are currently experiencing a shortage at centre-back. As previously mentioned, Worrall is suspended with Scott McKenna injured after limping off against United at the weekend.

We think that a back three of Serge Aurier, Moussa Niakhate and Willy Boly will be utilised as the Reds aim to reach the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Midfield

Ryan Yates has demonstrated in recent games how crucial he is to Cooper and his setup with his displays against Sheffield United and Manchester United.

He could partner new signing Andrey Santos in the midfield two after the 19-year-old joined the club on loan from Chelsea last Friday.

Attack

Nottingham Forest’s ‘wonderkid‘ Brandon Aguilera could be handed his first competitive minutes for the club, after impressing during pre-season.

Anthony Elanga has had multiple impressive cameos off of the substitutes bench in recent weeks and could be handed a first start for the club tonight.

Taiwo Awoniyi will be rested after his impressive record of scoring three in three for the Reds so far this season.

Chris Wood looks set to start up front against his former club, looking to add to his tally of goals so far this season.
