Fabrizio Romano’s latest transfer update could be bad news for Nottingham Forest in their chances of keeping Brennan Johnson.
The 22-year-old is of serious interest from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, with the Reds holding out for a fee in the region of £50 million.
However, Romano has confirmed that Spurs’ other target in wide areas Ansu Fati is set to join Brighton on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona.
This could see Spurs turn their attention to Johnson with just a day left to go in the transfer window.
Despite rumours about his future at the City Ground, the Welsh international forward came off the bench against Burnley last night, as the Reds fell to a 1-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup second round.

One day left, will Johnson stay or go?
Johnson has been rumoured to leave Forest all window with numerous clubs such as Brentford, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid interested.
He won’t be leaving the club unless a side presents an offer of at least £50 million, with Tottenham the only side left in the race to sign the 22-year-old.

Postecoglou is said to be a big fan of Johnson, with the Welshman keen on a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It would be a massive boost should Forest keep hold of their academy graduate, but on the other hand, £50 million is a great price for the youngster who only has one Premier League season under his belt.
Personally, I would love to see him stay but the fee touted for Johnson would be quality business for the club.
