Fabrizio Romano believes that Nottingham Forest are close to losing Brennan Johnson to Tottenham on transfer deadline day. The Reds have been inundated with interest all summer and he could be set to leave today.
The transfer guru has now delivered an update on Twitter. He believes that Johnson’s talks with Tottenham are advancing and that a deal could be finalised before tonight’s deadline.

Forest will hope to use the funds to land a stellar signing or two. Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to sign as a replacement for Johnson, whilst a big-money deal for Ibrahim Sangare could still go through.
Johnson has been quality for Forest over the last two years. He bagged 19 goals in the promotion-winning campaign of 2021/22 and last season he scored eight times as the Reds secured Premier League survival.
However, he might not be irreplaceable. The player hasn’t scored since March when he bagged twice against Everton and the Reds will claim maximum profit from Johnson given that he’s an academy graduate.
MORE FOREST STORIES
Naturally, it will hurt for Forest to lose a homegrown talent. In this day and age, however, the club will be at the mercy of bigger clubs and probably highlights how well the Reds have done over the last couple of seasons.
Romano delivers the latest about Forest star Johnson
This is a bit of a shame. Johnson would have likely been a regular in the team this season but with Anthony Elanga signed and Hudson-Odoi also joining, taking £50 million does look like good business for Forest.

If Johnson leaves, the morale of the fan base will be determined by who arrives at the club. If Johnson leaving allows the Reds to get Sangare over the line, for example, there will be few complaints about the deal.
Romano is usually on the money. Now, it’s a case of sitting and waiting as Forest look to discover what deal they can get to sell Johnson.
