Brennan Johnson’s move to Tottenham Hotspur seems to be edging closer according to John Percy.

Within his report, he confirms that negotiations have taken place in the past few hours with Johnson expected to travel down to London for a medical soon.

Tottenham have been in talks this week to sign the 22-year-old, with Spurs agreeing to pay Forest’s asking price of £50 million.

Forest will hope to use the funds to land at least three more signings before the deadline. Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to sign as a replacement for Johnson, whilst a big-money deal for Ibrahim Sangare is still in the pipeline.

End of an era for Brennan Johnson

A move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would bring Johnson’s 14-year stay at his hometown club to an end.

The Welshman enjoyed a successful first season in the Premier League last campaign, scoring eight times whilst providing three assists in his 33 starts.

His potential departure from the City Ground would be a real blow for Steve Cooper and his team, but the £50 million fee being touted is great business for the Forest Academy graduate.

Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been recruited for a combined £23 million, with the Johnson fee more than covering the two arrivals in the forward department.

However, the money should also be used to target a new defensive midfielder with the Reds still very keen on Sangare, a deal that could go right to the wire.
