Nottingham Forest really considered signing Alexis Sanchez during the summer transfer window. The Reds left no stone unturned in the quest to bring new players to the club and targeted some stellar additions.
According to The Athletic, the Chilean superstar was wanted by Forest during the summer window. However, it’s suggested that the deal never came close to being finalised, with the club pursuing other options.

Sanchez is a big deal in the world of football. He was a free agent this summer after leaving Marseille following a single season at the club where he scored 18 goals in 44 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 34-year-old forward was a wanted man, with several clubs making enquiries. Sanchez was under consideration by Forest but he ended up back at Inter where he has starred previously.
The forward played for Arsenal and Manchester United in the Premier League. He scored 80 times in 166 appearances for the Gunners before moving to the Red Devils and scoring five times in 45 appearances.

Forest really considered signing Sanchez this summer
The Reds would have signed a quality player had they pursued a deal here. However, the player would have been a short-term option and he’d have likely cost the Reds a fortune.

Sanchez would have commanded a big wage had Forest pursued him. He’s earned pretty decent money throughout his career, particularly during his time at Arsenal and Manchester United.
Forest had a meticulous approach to transfers this time around. It’s hard to knock them considering the signing of such a stellar free agent but ultimately, they’ve probably made the right call.
