Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has scored for Nigeria this evening and supporters are saying the same thing.

It’s been an unbelievable few months for Awoniyi. He finished last season with a flourish to keep Forest up and his good form has continued.

He scored in the first three Premier League games of the campaign. At one point he was on track for Jamie Vardy’s record of scoring in consecutive games.

Last week he came up dry at Chelsea, however, and the run has now ended. Still, he’s back on the goal trail, with Awoniyi scoring his team’s third goal during a victory over Sao Tome and Principe.

Nigeria won 6-0 during their latest African Cup of Nations contest. Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick, with Awoniyi, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze also among the goals.

The game proved a very useful run out for Nigeria and Awoniyi. The win today means they’ve topped their African Cup of Nations Qualifying group ahead of the tournament.

Awoniyi looks like a player who is bang in form this season. He’s taken the confidence from the back end of last season with him and hopefully, he can continue scoring even more goals.
