Former Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has delivered his verdict on where he thinks the Reds will finish in the Premier League this season.

The defender left the club back in August but admits that the club have done some brilliant business this summer which could see them cause some upsets this season.

Steve Cooper’s side brought in 13 new faces this window, adding needed quality from the likes of Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez to help build on survival last season.

Cook has been in this position at Bournemouth, but whilst admitting that the second Premier League season is the toughest, he believes that the Reds could be in for a successful campaign.

Steve Cook on Nottingham Forest this season

Speaking on the Garibaldi Red Podcast this week, former Reds defender Cook gave his prediction for Cooper’s side this campaign, admitting that all the foundations are there for a brilliant season.

“There’s always a lot said about the second season for a club in the Premier League and it can be a dangerous one.

“With the quality of players that have come in, I do think that Nottingham Forest can finish in the top half this year.

“I think if they stay patient for periods of the season which are going to be tough but, if they can keep the main players fit, it can be anything.

“I’m looking forward to watching from the outside because it’s an extremely strong squad and I genuinely think it will be a very strong season for the club.

The Reds would have to complete a stellar campaign if they are to achieve the 32-year-old’s prediction, but there is no reason why they can’t compete with the best sides in the division.

Forest will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins, as they host Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at the City Ground on Monday.
