Nottingham Forest sill want to sign Florentino Luis, according to reports. The Reds were heavily linked with the Benfica player during the summer transfer window but opted for other alternatives.

Now, O Jogo claims that Forest and Fulham remain interested in bringing the player to the Premier League. The preparations for the January transfer window will already be underway behind the scenes and it would seem as though Luis is wanted.

Benfica chose not to cash in on the 24-year-old in the end. Goncalo Ramos joined PSG and ultimately the Portuguese giants didn’t want to lose two top players in the same transfer window.

They aren’t out of the woods, however, in terms of keeping Luis. The player has a long contract in Portugal until 2027 and he’s also protected by a release clause of just over £100 million.

The report actually claims that Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also keen. Luis is a wanted man at the moment and it remains to be seen how long his current club can keep hold of him.

Forest still want Luis but it doesn’t really make sense

It’s only natural that the Reds will want to keep good players on their shortlist. However, after signing Ibrahim Sangare it does look unlikely they will be trying to sign Luis any time soon.

Forest look quite well-stocked in midfield now. Sangare will provide some composure in the middle, whilst Nicolas Dominguez also looks like he can bring something to the Forest table.

Luis is a quality player. Rui Vitoria previously called him ‘exceptional’ and he does look set to play in a top European league on a consistent basis at some point during his career.

Playing at Forest in the future might prove tricky though. He’s of a similar age to Sangare and it feels very unlikely that the Portuguese performer will be rocking up on Trentside when the transfer window reopens.
