Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that he was embarrassed for Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White yesterday. The Reds player took centre-stage when he contributed to Rodri getting sent off.

The 23-year-old is coming under fire from lots of pundits. Ultimately, he perhaps didn’t need to go down so theatrically but Rodri did put both hands around his neck.

Gibbs-White did go to the floor after Rodri acted and perhaps the Forest man didn’t need to do that. Still, VAR was always going to intervene and Anthony Taylor’s red card stood.

Agbonlahor has criticised Gibbs-White for his contribution. However, he has conceded that what Rodri did was stupid and he’s ensured a good day for City has a negative spin to it.

The pundit told TalkSPORT: “Look at the Rodri one, what are you doing? Was it enough for Morgan Gibbs-White to go down? No, it wasn’t, he should be on WWE for that acting.

“I’m sure Pep Guardiola will be sitting in the dressing room asking him why. You’re so experienced but why?

“They were winning 2-0, he should have just walked away and reminded Morgan Gibbs-White that they won the treble.

“I’d never go down like that out of embarrassment of your friends seeing it on TV.”

Pundits need to wind it in a bit. Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes have taken a tumble in the past and there hasn’t been this level of scrutiny. See also, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane.

Ultimately Gibbs-White is a young player who is still learning his trade in the game. He will perhaps learn from this incident and who knows, Steve Cooper might even have a word in his ear.

Forest’s main man didn’t need to go down as he did. However, in this day and age, some players might feel that they won’t get the decisions they feel they deserve if they don’t go to ground.

Agbonlahor is fine to take the moral high ground. He is Aston Villa’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League era and perhaps he is entitled to his opinion.

The player has been a young player before, however, and he definitely made mistakes. Perhaps he should think before he makes such harsh judgements next time.
