West Ham are now set to make a move to sign Matheus Nascimento after Nottingham Forest tried to land him. The Reds were keen to make a summer purchase but the player wanted to stay at Botofogo.
The talented 19-year-old is viewed as a wonderkid in Brazil. He opted to stay with his existing club as they chase down a league title between now and the end of the season.

Forest spent the summer scouring the market for new players and in the end they signed one new striker. Divock Origi was added on deadline day after being left frustrated in pursuit of other options.
Reports claim that West Ham now fancy the talented youngster. They want to strengthen their striker option in the summer and the Brazilian is now on their radar.
Forest wanted Nascimento in the summer
The player was on the radar of the Reds for quite some time. It’s thought that Forest made a bid for the player and some reports claimed that a deal was close at one stage.
Nascimento is very much considered one for the future. In 81 appearances for Botafogo, he’s scored 11 goals and claimed four assists and is very much a work in progress.
The youngster is a quality player and clearly, the South American scouts at the City Ground rate him highly. Although the club wanted to sign him ultimately a deal proved unobtainable.
West Ham now fancy signing Nascimento
The Reds could now be facing a losing battle with this one. West Ham have European football on their agenda and having won the UEFA Conference League last season they have seen their stock rise as a club.

David Moyes has a knack for getting the best out of players. He’s unearthed some gems since he signed for West Ham and now it seems he’s looking at the South America market.
Forest will still likely have Nascimento on their shortlist ahead of January. Once the 2023 campaign is over in Brazil a move looks to be on the cards and perhaps now West Ham are the favourites.
