West Ham manager David Moyes has been quizzed on Jesse Lingard following his release from Nottingham Forest in June. The player was on trial with the Hammers for around three weeks but he’s now going elsewhere.

The 30-year-old spent the 2022/23 campaign at the City Ground. Lingard endured a pretty frustrating time at Forest, scoring just twice with both goals coming in the Carabao Cup.

Now, he’s a free agent and is available to sign for a new club right away. Steven Gerrard has currently got him training in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq as the England man tries to win a new deal.

Moyes relaxed over Lingard after Forest spell

It wouldn’t seem as though the West Ham incumbent is losing too much sleep over this one. He’s quite relaxed with how things are at present and signing for Gerrard’s outfit could be a real possibility.

Moyes told The Mirror: “No not at all (disappointed that he left for Saudi), I’m quite comfortable and more than relaxed with it. I think I’ve been indicating that we’re having to see what he’s going to do and how he’s going to be.

“We like Jesse a lot but I just don’t know if we need another player in the position that he would probably play for us.”

Forest were right to let the player leave

Things just didn’t work out for Lingard at Forest. A bad word shouldn’t really be said about him though as he proved a misunderstood and very likable character around the place.

He really knuckled down at Forest and tried his hardest to get in the team. The World Cup probably came at a time when he was getting into his stride and afterwards, he struggled with injury problems.

Lingard now looks like getting a contract in Saudi Arabia. Gerrard is running the rule over the player and it looks like a perfect move for the player as he looks to play football once again.
