Nottingham Forest play Brentford this afternoon and Steve Cooper must stick with Nicolas Dominguez. The midfielder made his debut last weekend in the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Amidst a backdrop of backing for Ryan Yates to come in, Cooper will have a decision to make. Whichever one he does go for, the midfield simply has to include the Argentina international.

The 25-year-old looks like a very tidy performer. He joined the club on transfer deadline day from Bologna and seemed to revel in the fact that he was making his debut against the champions.

Dominguez has to start for Forest today

This was an interesting signing made by the Reds in the summer. Dominguez signed for Forest on a permanent basis, with Remo Freuler heading in the opposite direction.

It’s a signing that has perhaps slipped under the radar at the City Ground. With Ibrahim Sangare, Divock Origi and Callum Hudson-Odoi catching the eye, Dominguez was one that perhaps didn’t get the same level of attention.

Forest head coach Cooper decided that last week was the right time to unleash Dominguez. The player didn’t disappoint and delivered a performance that excited the fan base.

Last week, Cooper raved about the player after his opening performance in English football. He claimed that ‘he did well’ and clearly, the head coach will hope to see more of the player.

Forest looking for a big win

Brentford arrive at the City Ground today on the back of three successive defeats in all competitions. The Reds will hope to take advantage of that and compound the misery on Thomas Frank’s men.

Playing Dominguez would definitely be a popular decision made by Cooper. He is the type of midfielder that Forest made last time out on home soil against Burnley and he will be champing at the bit to play again.

Forest need to showcase more desire to get on the front foot at the City Ground, with the fans craving some attacking intent. With Dominguez in the team, they should have no problem fulfilling that demand.
