Harry Toffolo sends five-word message to Nottingham Forest fans after Premier League return

Harry Toffolo has sent a message to Nottingham Forest supporters after he made his first appearance of the campaign. The Reds drew 1-1 with Brentford at the City Ground, playing for over 30 minutes with 10 men.

It proved another frustrating afternoon for the Reds on Trentside. Forest fell behind just after Moussa Niakhate had been sent off for a second bookable offence in the 56th minute.

That incident saw Forest head coach Steve Cooper summons Toffolo from the bench for his first outing of 2023/24. The left-back hasn’t played for the Reds since he was found guilty of breaching some betting regulations.

Toffolo sends message to Forest supporters after comeback

The 28-year-old offered a reminder to the City Ground faithful what he’s all about after a long lay-off. He was truly excellent during his 30 minutes on the pitch and registered the assist.

His cross was pin-point. It was met by Nicolas Dominguez who headed home to score his first goal in the Garibaldi and cap his home debut with a brilliant goal.

It was just the tonic for a Forest side who must have feared the worst after going a man and a goal down. The Reds didn’t roll over and instead battled to win themselves a point.

After the game, Toffolo posted a short message on Twitter. It read: “Proud to wear the badge.” and fans will be delighted with his contribution today.

Toffolo should get more game time

If a left-back is fit then a left-back should play. The decision to play with Moussa Niakhate as a makeshift left-back proved disastrous and won’t be one looked back on with fondness by Steve Cooper.

Toffolo has thrown his hat into the ring for a game against Crystal Palace. Forest will hope to have Ola Aina fit but if he’s not them the man signed from Huddersfield has to be in contention.

This was a performance that typified the type of character that Toffolo is. He will hope that Cooper is now fully aware that he’s ready to do a job should he be required to do so this season.
