Steve Cooper has provided an update on the injury of midfielder Danilo.

The 22-year-old Brazilian picked up a suspected hamstring injury against Chelsea and hasn’t been seen since he hobbled off late in the first half.

However, Forest boss Cooper issued an update on the midfielder’s fitness during his press conference yesterday.

He admitted that although he’s back on the grass, he’s still only halfway through his rehab to help him recover from the hamstring injury.

Steve Cooper on Danilo

During his press conference yesterday, Cooper was able to provide an in-depth update on the 22-year-old’s fitness.

“Danilo is a bit more long-term, it’s still going to be a little while until he’s back with the group.

“He’s out on the grass but very much in the middle of his rehab.”

Forest fans will be hoping for a quick return for the Brazilian to allow him to pick up from the good form he was in throughout the final months of last season.

Danilo needs to hit the ground running when he returns

Danilo may have had a brilliant end to the last campaign, however, he may find it difficult to slot straight back into the starting XI upon his return from injury.

Since then, players such as Orel Mangala and Nicolas Dominguez have produced magnificent performances and are fully deserving of their place in the starting XI.

However, Danilo may be disappointed with his current injury, but he needs to bide his time and take the opportunity with both hands as and when it arises.
