Several players have sent messages to Hazard on the back of his announcement. Hudson-Odoi was one of them, with the Forest man sending him a six-word post.

He wrote on Instagram: “Magician!! All the best in retirement.”

Hazard was extremely popular during his time with Chelsea. He was a proven matchwinner and he helped the club to Europa League glory alongside Hudson-Odoi.

Hudson-Odoi will surely see Hazard as an inspiration

Forest look like being the perfect club for Hudson-Odoi. He lost his way a little bit at Chelsea and has found regular football hard to come by for a number of years.

Given that Hazard played in the same position as Hudson-Odoi, it’s likely that he will see his old teammate as a role model. If Steve Cooper can get him back to his best, Forest might feel like they’ve got their own version of Hazard!

Naturally, Hudson-Odoi has a long way to go to emulate Hazard, however. The hope from a Forest perspective is that he can settle quickly and continue showcasing flashes of his quality on Trentside.
