Nottingham Forest defender Murillo made more long passes than two England defenders during the weekend. The Brazilian was in fine form as the Reds drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace.
The 21-year-old is busy making waves at the City Ground. He made his debut in the draw against Brentford and helped Forest dig deep to earn a share of the spoils with 10 men.
On Saturday, he kept his place in the team for the trip to play Palace at Selhurst Park. He looks in fine fettle as Forest were perhaps unlucky not to claim all three points.
Murillo made more long passes than England duo
Murillo completed six of the 12 long passes that he attempted on Saturday, according to The Other 14 on Twitter. The account leaves out the big six clubs and focuses on the rest of the Premier League.
Lewis Dunk and Marc Guehi were the two England players who couldn’t trump Murillo when it came to long passes. Dunk completed five for Brighton; whilst the Palace defender could only manage four.
The willingness to try the long balls shows that Murillo is not short of confidence. He’s keen to get Forest moving in the right direction and isn’t afraid to try a killer long pass.
Murillo can truly star for Forest
What a find this player looks from a Forest perspective. The player is proving himself a very capable youngster and once again, the South American scout looks to have hit the jackpot.
Murillo will prove to be a quality player for Forest. He looks mature way beyond his tender years and is showcasing some brilliant attributes after just two games.
On another night he might have scored on Saturday. It’s hard to be too critical of a centre-back when it comes to his composure in front of goal but that did let him down at the weekend.
Everything else was on point though. Forest won’t be judging Murillo on his attacking qualities and the challenge for Steve Cooper now is to keep him playing in a consistent fashion.
