Giulian Biancone has been told where he can improve after leaving Nottingham Forest for Olympiacos. The defender joined the Greek outfit permanently in the summer after 12 months at the City Ground.

It proved a tricky time of things for Biancone at Forest. He made just three appearances for the senior ranks before rupturing his ACL during a training session.

Given that he was signed in a relatively low-risk deal, Forest decided to cut their losses on the defender they had signed from Troyes. It was announced after the window had closed in England that Biancone was actually heading to Greece on a permanent deal.

Biancone rated after first game since leaving Forest

Shortly after arriving at Olympiacos, he was thrust into action for the B-Team. He played for an hour of a 3-2 defeat to Kallithea in the Second Division of the Super League.

Antonis Manikas is an expert on football in the second tier in Greece and is also the Head of Scouting with Apollon. He was quizzed by Greek outlet Sport Dog on how Biancone had performed.

Biancone played at centre-back during his first appearance since leaving Forest and Manikas said: “In the match against Kallithea he showed good things but he still lacks pace. Obviously, however, he still has good elements to his game.”

The Reds had to sell Biancone

It was going to do nobody any favours keeping the 23-year-old at the City Ground. After such a serious knee injury the player desperately wanted football and he just wasn’t ready for the Premier League.

Now, he has a real chance to kick his career to the next level with Olympiacos in the coming seasons. He should get plenty of game time in Greece and hopefully, he can progress as a player.

Biancone was a good character in the dressing room at Forest. He could often be found watching from the sidelines last season and nobody would begrudge him doing well for Olympiacos in the future.
