Nottingham Forest have made nearly 50 signings the return to the Premier League last season, with multiple out of contract this summer.

The Reds need to trim the squad, with a number of players on the fringes needing a move to free up money on the wage bill – but some are also deserving of a new deal at the club.

Here is our list of three players who should be offered a new deal at the end of the 2023/24 campaign…

Willy Boly

The 32-year-old has the highest average of any player in the Forest squad so far this season.

He’s taken his performances to the next level, with his £2.85 million from Wolves last summer now looking a real bargain.

Boly is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, with the defender fully deserving of a new deal at the City Ground.

Serge Aurier

After his contract extension this summer, Aurier has captained the Reds on multiple occasions – even producing a Man of the Match performance against Sheffield United, where he collected two assists.

He’s been solid ever since his free transfer arrival last summer, but the 30-year-old is out of contract once again this year.

He came to the club with a reputation of being hot headed and unreliable, but under boss Steve Cooper he’s been a revelation.

A contract is the least he deserves to carry on his successful stint at the City Ground.

Harry Toffolo

Although he’s struggled for consistent game time at the City Ground, Toffolo has been the model professional.

Not once has he publicly complained about his lack of minutes, instead he puts in a shift to stake his claim for a starting position as he did against Brentford last Sunday.

Every time he puts on the colours of Forest, he gives 100% and from a fan’s perspective that is all you can ask for from a player representing your club.

He is a great squad player to have, with a new deal the least he deserves.
