Nottingham Forest-owned player scores 18th international goal in friendly victory

Nottingham Forest striker Hwang Ui-Jo scored his 18th South Korea goal in the 4-0 friendly win against Tunisia this afternoon.

The 31-year-old, who is currently on loan at Norwich City, was brought on in the second half, before scoring in stoppage time to confirm the victory.

Ui-Jo hasn’t hit the ground running so far during his loan stint at Carrow Road, but hopefully, his goal during the international break can help spring his spell into life.

Canaries boss David Wagner previously admitted that the South Korean needed time to settle into life at the club.

The 31-year-old has certainly taken time adapting to Championship football, having failed to make a competitive appearance for Forest since signing last year.

He hasn’t delivered as Norwich fans may have expected so far during his time at Carrow Road, but today’s goal could prove to be a turning point in his loan spell.

Hwang seems to be a player who thrives on confidence given his scoring record for his nation and spells at clubs such as Bordeaux.

Although he’s yet to register a goal for Wagner’s side, the 31-year-old has already showcased his quality with an assist during the 2-0 win against Birmingham City before the international break.

Hopefully, after his latest goal for South Korea, Norwich boss Wagner can trust Ui-Jo to lead the line in place of the injured Josh Sargent.
