‘Perfect for me’: 21-year-old is so happy to have signed for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has spoken of his delight at being at the football club. The player swapped Manchester United for the City Ground in a deal worth £15 million during the summer transfer window.

The Sweden international is currently away on duty with the national team. He came off the bench as a substitute last week against Moldova as Sweden claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Elanga will hope to get more game time for his country tonight. He will come up against his Forest teammate Orel Mangala and the Swedes could certainly do with a victory in their quest to reach Euro 2024.

Elanga delighted to be at Forest

After his move from Manchester United, the Swedes are keen to see how Elanga performs at the club. Last week he was interviewed by Fotbollskanalen to get his thoughts on the summer departure from Old Trafford.

Elanga has suggested that he’s now happy at Forest and claims he spoke with Steve Cooper before the move. He said: “It has been perfect. I talked to the leaders before I came here. I know what the leaders want and how to play. The project and everything there is perfect for me. The season is long and we have only played eight games. We’ve won a few and I’ve scored goals and assists. So, I can’t complain about the start of the season. 

“Now it’s just a matter of continuing to work hard. The difference isn’t that big. We have started well in the league, winning games, drawing some and losing some. But it’s a good team, a good city and good players. The season is long and hopefully, we can have a good season.”

Elanga can thrive at the City Ground

Regular game time is clearly the reason why Elanga chose to leave United. He should see more minutes during his time at Forest, although he has started just two games so far this season in the Premier League.

His time will come though. Elanga boasts raw pace, he’s direct and furthermore, he looks capable of weighing in with both goals and assists over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.

Elanga seems like a good character to have inside the Forest dressing room. Furthermore, he will arrive at Forest with a point to prove having been deemed surplus to requirements at United.
