Nottingham Forest player Orel Mangala played brilliantly on Saturday against Luton. That is the opinion of Nottinghamshire Live journalist Sarah Clapson who raved about the Belgian star.

The 25-year-old started as part of a midfield three alongside Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez. Mangala is now considered a regular in the Forest team having arrived in the summer of 2022 from Stuttgart.

Mangala made 31 appearances for Forest during his maiden campaign at the club. However, it’s this season that he’s really kicked on and he now appears to be an important player.

Journalist raves about Forest star Mangala

The man with 10 appearances for Belgium has perhaps struggled with a bit of an identity crisis since signing for the club. Forest fans have often been struggling to find out what sort of midfielder Mangala actually is.

Given his form this season, however, things are becoming more transparent. Mangala looks like a player who is happy to carry the ball, can pick a pass out and he’s unbelievably hardworking.

Indeed, Clapson had a strong assessment of Mangala after a 2-2 draw for Forest against Luton on Saturday. The Nottinghamshire Live journalist claimed: “Mangala was excellent. Combing with Sangare and Dominguez in midfield is really bringing the best out of him.”

Mangala now striving for consistency at the City Ground

Forest signed a quality player when they snared Mangala from Stuttgart in the summer of 2022. He didn’t cost the earth and he’s showcased of late what a quality player he can be.

The challenge now is for Mangala to continue proving himself. Although he’s enjoyed some good form in recent weeks, he needs to strive to give this level of consistency on a more frequent basis.

Mangala was brilliant against Luton on Saturday. It was a shame that he couldn’t end up on the winning side and it’s definitely fair to say that Sangare and Dominguez have helped him become a more polished player.
