Nottingham Forest head coach has explained that he was forced into a change involving Nicolas Dominguez yesterday. The Reds lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Anfield as they slid down the Premier League table again.
Forest have now gone six games without a win. Their last victory came away at Chelsea back in September and they’ve failed to build on that wonderful result against the Blues.
Dominguez did start the game for Forest against Liverpool yesterday. He was utilised a little further forward though and Cooper admitted that wasn’t the intention.
Cooper explains pre-match plans as Forest are battered
Forest were rocked before kick-off with the news that Chris Wood will be out for four weeks. In terms of injuries on Trentside, it never rains it pours it would seem.

Forest head coach Cooper interestingly claims that he was forced into utilising Dominguez in a more unfamiliar role than he intended to.
The head coach told the club’s official YouTube channel: “We were slightly forced into changes at the top end of the pitch, with Anthony (Elanga) and Nicolas (Dominguez) in particular. We had a plan and then Chris (Wood) gets injured and we have to change it but there’s no excuses.”
Dominguez very important to Forest fortunes
Dominguez signed for Forest on transfer deadline day from Bologna has largely been a revelation. He has showcased his quality from the off in England and Forest look to have signed a gem after capturing him.
Dominguez has been brilliant so far for Forest, bringing something a bit different to the team. Okay, yesterday he wasn’t perhaps at his best but again, that wasn’t down to a lack of work rate and commitment.
Cooper has admitted that he played Forest midfielder Dominguez out of position somewhat. Still, he gave his all and it seems likely that despite a bit of an off-day, he will remain integral to the club’s fortunes going forward.
