After not being included in Steve Cooper’s 25-man squad, Ethan Horvath has rarely been seen during Nottingham Forest training videos or photos.

However, The Athletic have reported that the USMNT goalkeeper is set to leave Forest during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at promoted Luton Town, but the Hatters decided against a permanent deal for the ‘keeper.

The arrivals of Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos have seen Horvath drop to fourth-choice goalkeeper behind the new additions and Welsh international Wayne Hennessey.

The American goalkeeper has only featured six times for the Reds since his free transfer from Club Brugge back in 2021.

He’s often been utilised as a cup keeper during the promotion-winning campaign but hasn’t featured for the Reds in well over 18 months.

No new contract on the horizon for Horvath

With Horvath out of contract at the end of the 2023/24 season, he will leave the club regardless come June next year.

However, the Reds will be looking to move the 28-year-old on in January and aim to receive a fee for Horvath before his contract expires.

A move to the MLS could be on the cards, with the goalkeeper wanting to gain valuable minutes to keep himself in the USA national side.
