Paul Merson has delivered his weekly prediction on Nottingham Forest as they prepare to face in-form Aston Villa this weekend.

Steve Cooper’s side will be looking to pick up a first home win since August when they defeated Sheffield United 2-1 after goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood.

It is no secret that Forest will be facing an extremely tough test on Sunday, against a Villa side who have enjoyed a brilliant start to the new campaign under boss Unai Emery.

Former Arsenal man Merson admits that he can’t see Forest getting anything from the game at the City Ground this weekend.

Paul Merson predicts an Aston Villa win against Forest

In his column with Sportskeeda, the 55-year-old claimed that Villa will have too much quality and should claim another three points against the Reds.

“Aston Villa have been absolutely outstanding this season, no two ways about it.

“They are playing free-flowing football and all their players are prepared to run without the ball, which is a clear sign they have bought into Unai Emery’s philosophy.

“Emery was bang unlucky at Arsenal and fell behind the eight ball quickly, but he’s come into this Villa side and transformed them in a year.

“Villa have a good run of games coming up, so I expect them to be close to the top four for a while.”

Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-3 Aston Villa

Forest face yet another tough test this weekend

In recent times at the City Ground, Steve Cooper’s side have caused multiple upsets including beating Arsenal, Liverpool and drawing with champions Manchester City.

Tomorrow is no different facing a side who have only tasted defeat twice in the Premier League so far this season.

Emery’s side haven’t lost since they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield back on September 3rd, with Villa looking to close the gap on a Champions League spot this weekend.
