Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has explained what his coaching staff have told him about the prospect of facing Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The 52-year-old wasn’t in charge of Villa when they travelled to the City Ground to face Steve Cooper’s side last season.

Emmanuel Dennis scored a well-placed header early on before a wonder strike from Ashley Young levelled the game at 1-1 – with no side able to find a winner in the second half.

Villa boss Emery has enjoyed a great start to the season but admitted Forest could cause his side some problems on Sunday.

“I didn’t play there last year; we arrived after they played there. I have been asking the coaches, asking the players about how difficult the match will be on Sunday.

“Always in Nottingham it’s very difficult for every team. From the coaches and players that have played there I know it’s difficult.

“It’s a fantastic atmosphere there for them and the supporters are pushing a lot and trying to support their players.

“Away we are not being consistent like I want. We have to improve and we can play better. This is the challenge: we can play better, we can be more competitive.”

Forest need to make it difficult for Villa on Sunday

It is safe to say the atmosphere at the City Ground hasn’t been anywhere near as good as last campaign, with results not up to the level of last season.

Tomorrow the fans need to get behind Steve Cooper and the players as the Reds hunt for a first home win since August.
