Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has suggested that Callum Hudson-Odoi won’t return against West Ham. The player has been injured but has done some training this week.

The Reds landed Hudson-Odoi on transfer deadline day of the summer transfer window. He cost the club less than £5 million and he showed promise in his first appearances.

Injury has struck the Forest player, however, and Hudson-Odoi has not been able to feature in recent weeks. It doesn’t appear as though the player will be fit enough to return and Cooper has been quizzed on the injury situation.

Forest boss Cooper suggests Hudson-Odoi won’t play today

Hudson-Odoi was spotted in Forest training this week. As a result, it was anticipated that he might be fit enough for a return to the squad at West Ham today.

Cooper has seemingly dismissed any notion of that, however. He told the club’s official website: “No fresh injuries, we’ve got a couple of lads who have returned back to training.

“Not everyone will be ready for the weekend but as it stands the only player who didn’t train today was Callum Hudson-Odoi.”

Forest will hope key player can return soon

It’s hard to believe that Forest star Hudson-Odoi is only 23-years-old. He seems to have been around for a long time and the challenge for Cooper is to get him back to his best.

Even if Hudson-Odoi was fit, it wouldn’t be wise for Forest to risk him today. The Reds have another international break after today’s game and they should focus on getting the player right after that interval.

Hudson-Odoi scored a cracking goal against Burnley on his debut for Forest. That showcased a glimpse of exactly how much quality he has and the Reds will hope he can be back on the pitch soon.
