Steve Cooper has criticised Nottingham Forest star Nicolas Dominguez after his error against West Ham. The Reds were beaten 3-2 at The London Stadium after a pretty enthralling encounter.

The Argentine won’t have fond memories of the capital after this disastrous showing. His error in the opening three minutes allowed Lucas Paqueta to fire the Hammers into an early lead.

Cooper was so frustrated with the midfielder that he didn’t return for the second half. Danilo came on in his place and changed the game in Forest’s favour for a little while.

The 25-year-old hasn’t made many mistakes of this nature since he checked in at the club. Normally, Dominguez is steady with his passing and Forest fans have largely been impressed with him.

Cooper wasn’t happy though. He told Nottinghamshire Live: “I can’t and shouldn’t look past the goals we’ve given away. We’ve gifted an opportunity right at the start of the game through not being ready to start and a poor individual mistake.”

Forest landed Dominguez from Serie A outfit Bologna in the summer. He checked in on transfer deadline day in a deal that saw Remo Freuler go in the opposite direction.

Dominguez must park this performance

This was one to forget for the Reds midfielder. Dominguez has been a pretty decent signing for Forest and he will learn from this mistake and move on.

The sad thing for the midfielder is that he now has to sweat on this performance for two weeks. For the player who was hooked at half-time, the break has come at the worst possible time.

Dominguez was extremely naive to try such a pass in a dangerous area of the pitch against West Ham. Forest were punished for the mistake and he will have felt the wrath of Cooper.
