Nottingham Forest tried to sign Dan Gosling in 2021 and after rejecting the advances of the Reds he now finds himself at Notts County.

Gosling was on the radar of Forest boss Chris Hughton as he tried to rebuild his squad amid a relegation dogfight during 2020/21.

The experienced midfielder was playing his trade at Bournemouth when Forest wanted him but he chose to reject a move.

Gosling now signs for Notts County

When Forest wanted him, Gosling chose to join Watford instead. The player wasn’t convinced by the project at the City Ground and declined the advances.

It proved a pretty foolish move. Gosling had played under Hughton before and it’s madness to think he rejected the chance to sign for Forest.

Although the club weren’t pulling up any trees at the time, it’s still hard to believe that he didn’t head to a club that would have played him regularly.

County landed the player recently to end his long spell without a club. He’s made two outings for the Magpies so far and is now looking to kick on.

Gosling must seriously regret not signing for Forest

How things could have been different. Gosling signed for Forest at a time when Samba Sow and Cafu were the only fit midfielders and he would have played.

Had he come in and done well, the club might have signed him permanently and the following season saw the Reds win promotion to the Premier League. The rest for Gosling might have been history.

Instead, He spent the second half of last season not playing and had to wait until November following his release to get taken on by another club.

Now, Gosling who could have been strutting his stuff at Forest is a League Two footballer. With that in mind, he must be wishing what might have been had he headed to Nottingham in 2021 instead.
